604 Chapel (The Oliver North House) was designed by prolific New Haven-based architect, Henry Austin. Austin was active for more than fifty years and designed many notable public buildings and homes in the New Haven area. The impressive and irregular Italian-style villa is part of Austin's Chapel Street project. The house is characterized by its predominant central tower as well as canopies and balconies characteristic of Austin work. The home was originally built for Cincinnati merchant Johnathon King but is commonly referred to by the name of its next resident, Oliver B. North, the owner of a saddlery and carriage firm. The house has been altered by the addition of a third floor.

533 Chapel Street resides in the Wooster Square Historic District. This stone home was built circa 1890 and has approximately 7,700 square feet of living space.
